A dynamically allocated hard disk file will only use space on your physical hard disk as it filly up (up to maximum fixed size), although it will not shrink again automatically when space on it is freed. As you can see there are two storage types including dynamically allocated and fixed size. Under Storage on physical hard disk select Fixed size and then click Next.VDI is used by Oracle VirtualBox, VHD is used by Hyper-V and CMDK is used by VMware. As you can see there are three different hard disk types including VDI, VHD, and VMDK. Under Hard disk file type choose VDI (VirtualBox Disk Image) and then click Next.

As we do not have a virtual disk, we will create a new one. In this window, you will be also able to use an existing virtual hard disk or skip creating a new hard disk. Under Hard disk select Create a virtual hard disk now and then click Create.In case you are not able to assign 8 GB due to your host´s resources, please assign the 4 GB. In our case, we will assign 8 GB of RAM memory. Under Memory size select the amount of memory (RAM) that will be allocated to the virtual machine and then click Next.If it is not changed, please do it by yourself. The type and version of the operating system will automatically change based on your descriptive name. In our case the name of the virtual machine is Windows 10 Pro, we will keep the default location. The name you choose will be used throughout VirtualBox to identify this machine. Under Name and operation system choose a descriptive name and destination folder for the new virtual machine and select the type of operating system you intend to install on it and then click Next.At the top of the window, click on the New in order to create a new virtual machine.
